The forum is nothing fancy like ECF or Vapers Forum since it doesn’t use vBulletin.  This is just a WordPress plugin but I think it will serve its purpose for this site.  I thought it would be a good idea to have a central place where meetings and other stuff could be planned out.  Right now there is also no way to consolidate the chapter forums under another main forum.  That should change in a few weeks as the plugin will be upgraded to include sub forums.  Let me know what you guys think.

Since we’ve never really spent any leisure time in Cali, we decided to make it an extended stay and make it a long deserved vacation.  I had been there many times before but that was business trips and a couple of short family gatherings.  I had never really had the chance to “see” California the way it should be seen.

After the funeral which was a week ago this past Sunday we did the Hollywood thing with some of our cousins.  We met up with a couple of friends who were also in Cali and headed to Laguna Beach where we stayed for  a couple of days.  We took a short flight up to San Francisco.  I’ve always wanted to see the Golden Gate bridge and Fisherman’s Wharf.  SF is truly a beautiful city.  That’s when we decided to rent a car.  We drove back down the “1″ to LA.  Before we got there we took a detour see Neverland Ranch.  That was weird, as there still a view people and t-shirt vendors hanging out by the gate.  After we left we tracked down the awesome smell of BBQ only to be disappointed in the texture and taste of the beef.  There was an Associated Press guy there who had been hanging out at the gate getting photos.  He told us the BBQ was the best he’s ever eaten.   I told him he hasn’t been to Texas.

From LA we headed down to San Diego to see a friend that moved there years ago.  We came back to LA and decided to drive back to Texas.  On the way we stopped for a couple of days in Vegas.  The last time I was in Vegas I lost nearly two grand.  This time I only lost $1 – I’ve learned my lesson!  We also spent a day at the Grand Canyon.  About the only thing we didn’t do that I would have liked was see Carlsbad Caverns.  We thought about it but by the time it was within in reach we just wanted to go home.

Now that I’m back I’m ready to get things rolling with this site.  As mentioned before the site is functioning properly.  We just need to get some community activity going.  The main goal I have right now is to get some suppliers involved and make some great things happen for us.  I am always looking for ideas from members so if you have ideas please do speak up.  Let’s make the success of this group a team effort.

I’ll try to get a couple more posts in before we leave.  I have special supplier announcement that I want to make.

The official launch date for Tejas Vapin’s website will be July 1st, 2009.  It’s been a while in the making but we’re so close we can taste it.  This launch date will also coincide with other major forward steps for our group.  I plan to have the TV Store up and running as well.  To start off our product launch we’ll have hats and t-shirts featuring Mixology’s winning designs.  At that time we’ll also present Mix with a prize from the store.

In the meantime I want to work on a membership drive to up the numbers in our group.  I know there are lots of Texas vapers out there that don’t know about us yet.  I’ll be posting a new thread in ECF to promote the site.  Hopefully we can keep that thread alive so that new members can find it easily.  I’m not suggesting improper forum etiquette but if a few of us pop in to say hello and welcome our fellow Texans it would be big help in showing our hospitality.

Please visit our social group at the Electronic Cigarette Forum also known by its acronym,  ECF.  This site will be built out as the  need arises and the communty organizes.  For now it merely serving as a place holder for future growth.
